Product Engineer / Project Team Leader / Senior Manufacturing Engineer / Draftsman at Monroe

Job Description

UTLX is an industry leader in the manufacturing of railroad tank cars.  We currently have openings in our Alexandria, LA office.

 

Product Engineer

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated mechanical engineer who will be responsible for designing and managing the construction of railroad tank cars. This individual will work closely with other engineers, draftsmen, production management, and quality control personnel to ensure applicable regulations/quality standards are met.  He/she will also be responsible for providing technical responses to customer questions and developing tank car specifications that suit customers’ needs. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least three (3) years of experience in a related field is a plus.

 

Project Team Leader

This leadership position must be able to independently plan and accomplish projects and serve as an expert in railcar running component design and drafting.  Must be able to train, assist and lead lower level designers and drafters.  The candidate should have at least 10 years experience in design and drafting.  Must be organized, detailed and meet deadlines as required.  Experience with MicroStation is beneficial.

 

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and construction and purchase of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling. He/she will also be responsible for contractor interaction, engineering design, and implementation of manufacturing structures and related equipment.  This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a good working knowledge of CAD.  A minimum of three years experience in a steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing industry is preferred.

 

Draftsman

This position must be able to prepare detailed sub-assembly and assembly drawings from instructions/sketches as provided as well as have the ability to communicate well through oral or written means, and provide information in a clear, understandable manner.  The ability to perform basic mathematical computations using standard formulas and trigonometry.  This person must possess a high school education, and either two years of CAD drafting experience, or have completed a technical school drafting program.  Must be proficient in the use of CAD drafting software.  Experience with MicroStation is a plus.
