Job Summary Prepares general and/or discipline estimates for capital cost and or services estimates under supervision of Sr. Project Estimator. Develops basic conceptual estimates. Takes a role in estimate reviews and presentations. Provides and supports data and cost analysis. Uses and assists in development of the estimating databases. Executes simultaneous tasks within broadly defined parameters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs tasks (takeoffs, vendor/pricing searches) assigned by Sr. Estimators and engineers.
- Drafts estimate plans for projects (inclusive of estimate budget) through evaluation of scope, contract, desired estimate type, quality, and time resources available
- Assists in capital cost estimates.
- Reviews design scope criteria and develops quantities for undefined scope assumptions in coordination with Sr. Estimator and take off Engineers.
- Prepares estimate basis and assumption documentation
- Conducts services cost estimates. Assists in proper allocation of payroll adds. Creates cost models for fee calculations. Assists with analysis on functional input to staffing plan. Assists in estimate basis and assumption
- Assists in integration of commercial terms and conditions into estimates
- Prepares cost studies, trend estimates, and life cycle cost estimates in specialized areas or in specialized discipline area under supervision of Sr. Project Estimator and Operations staff.
- Prepares basic software generated estimates for completion and technical accuracy ensuing quality and integrity
- Establishes format and content of summaries and reconciliations, including segregation of cost according to level of confidence
- Calculates contingency through manual calculations.
- Performs and reviews escalation calculations for estimate
- Prepares cost trend estimates in support of project cost trend programs
- Performs cash flow and working capital assessments. Performs and reviews associated calculations and analysis
Supervisory Responsibilities Work in conjunction with other estimators or take off engineers in preparation of detailed estimates
Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Engineering or related studies and 2 to 5 years experience.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements Requires knowledge of regulatory environment as it applies to construction.
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- MS Office familiarity, Hard Dollar, P6, MS Project, general computer acumen and ability to learn to utilize other job-related technical software.
- Familiarity with statistical methods.
- Research skills.
- A working knowledge of the companys operations and business hierarchy.

- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, use of sampling equipment, etc.) most of the work day;

- Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, combustible gas, etc.) rarely;
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements a portion of the work day or week;
- Normal setting for this job is an office setting and construction sites.
