Job Description

The Chemist is responsible to provide lab technical support. To assists with calibration and maintenance of lab instruments required by ISO/industry standards. Mentors lab technicians in performing lab tests. Insures reproducibility of test results. Supports the Lab Specialist in the execution of non-routine plant site testing. Develops and documents new analytical methods and review and update current standard methods. Provides technical assistance to internal and external customers relating to in-process and quality problems (QN system). Provides assistance to laboratory personnel relating to testing or equipment problems. Develops plans and propose projects for updating or replacing equipment or software. Plant contact for testing standardization.

Assists the Technical Manager with customer visits & audits. Participates in the Quality Forum and the Technical Chemist Forum. Provides input to the Quality Analyst for maintenance of the sites Quality Process and Quality data. Primary technical resource for process investigations of unknown substance such as a poison event or a fouling event.

Responsible for production Product Trials. Site Liaison with the plant Production Engineers and Product Development scientists for executing trials and providing recommendations for commercialization.

Responsible to optimize testing load, effectiveness and accuracy associated with new products

• B.S. in Chemistry.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing. Prefer a minimum of 2 yrs in polymers experience
• Analytical capabilities
• Working knowledge of testing methods
• Develop knowledge of the LLO product portfolio, applications and recipes
• Working knowledge of LLO process technologies
• Report and communication of trial activity and success/failure
• Ability to establish commercial/customer networks
• Understand ISO requirements
• Knowledgeable in the Companys quality management systems
• Ability to work with third party suppliers
• Problem Solving skills
• Communication skills, collaboration, and decision making skills
• Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and achieve results through the contributions of other people within and outside the immediate organization

Advanced PC skills, including spreadsheets, database, graphics, statistical forecasting and modeling. Good information technology skills needed to access company data.
