Position Title: Utility Operator A - Nalco Co.

Position Location: Port Allen, LA

Job Scope

Nalco, an Ecolab Company, has an opening for a Utility Operator in our North American Manufacturing Group located in Port Allen, LA. The Utility Operator will primarily be responsible for safely and accurately handling a wide variety of job tasks that support the manufacture and shipment of chemicals to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Operates various types of plant equipment including pumps, fork trucks, filters, scales, hoses, hose connections, pipe manifolds, level gauges, etc.
- Charges raw materials into process vessels.
- Packages and transfers finished products as directed.
- Loads and unloads tank cars and tank trucks.
- Assists other personnel in production and shipping operations.
- Handles plant and vessel clean-ups and general housekeeping duties.
- Learns how to safely and effectively handle chemical processes and processing equipment.
- Reports and contains any chemical spills or emissions.
- Supports the Quality Improvement Process by following procedures, measuring charges and transfer quantities, making process improvement suggestions, monitoring equipment performance, and filling out unit SPC charts.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

- High School Diploma / GED required
- Must be able to operate pumps, fork trucks, filters, scales, hoses, hose connections
- Individuals starting as a Utility Operator must pass a 90-day probation period. After this period, they must make satisfactory progress in learning and handling job assignments before being promoted
- Within 12 months of placement in this position, the incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills of required training for the position as outlined in the training curriculum

Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to successfully handle duties and responsibilities assigned
- Experience in the Plant Labor industry
- Responsible and reliable
- Strong mechanical skills
