You are responsible for the efficient, effective and fair assignmentof veterans to established panels to ensure that all veterans receive equitablemedical care in a timely manner. Works closely with the Entitlement staff toensure the veteran eligibility is verified and is current before assigning aprimary Care Provider. Ensures that patients are placed on and taken off thewaiting list at the appropriate time so that appointments are scheduled in atimely manner in accordance with the rules and regulations relative to schedulingrequirements. When appointments are scheduled with another provider clinic you will ensurethat the veteran is removed from the waiting list. You will ensure that the waitinglist and overdue waiting list statistical reports are reviewed and updated on adaily basis. Posts the statistical data to the monitors requested of TopManagement ensuring that the data is accurate at the time of posting. Notifiesthe supervisor of unusual patterns on the waiting list or of excessive delaysin the ability to obtain needed appointments as mandated by schedulingrequirements. Responsible for scheduling, canceling and rescheduling of patientappointments. Ensures that the veteran receives official written notificationof any changes in clinic scheduling. Maintains,reviews and updates records in support of the appointment centerfunctions. Reviews patient medicalrecords via CPRS when necessary to solve the concern of the veteran.Responsible for the generation of reminder letters and ensures that the lettersare mailed according to schedule. Serves as point of contact for theappointment center clerks when they are unsure of the nature of the call.Assist the appointment center clerks with difficult veterans or challengingcalls. Responsible for making recommendations for change and identifying solutions to improve the operations of theAppointment Center.

GS-04: One year of General Experience or (2) Two years of education above high school.
General Experience:(All positions except Reporting Stenographer, Shorthand Reporter, and ClosedMicro-phone Reporter)--Progressively responsible clerical, office, or otherwork that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skillsneeded to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Time in Grade Requirements: Time in grade is the 52-week requirement that Federal employeesin competitive service General Schedule (GS) positions at GS-5 and above mustserve before they are eligible for promotion (advancement) to the next gradelevel as appropriate for the position being filled.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: This position requires completion of (1) one year probationary period, if not already completed.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Proficiency in the English language is required for direct patient care positions. (P.L. 95-201).
DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE: The VA has established a Drug-Free Federal Workplace Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with the VA for a period of six months. This policy extends to random testing for the use of illegal drugs by employees who occupy testing designated positions defined as sensitive in Section 7(d) of Executive Order 12564.
